Using the Medical-Quality Connection, organizations with both a MedInquiry and a Quality QMS Vault can exchange data. The Medical-Quality Connection transfers Product Quality Complaint data from MedInquiry to Quality, which includes the relevant product, event, and reporter information required for the Complaint Intake process.
Note: Known issue: You may experience an error when Vault transfers Event Product records where there are multiple corresponding Product Family/Product/Product Variant records in Quality with a blank Link field.
Prerequisites
To use this feature, your Admin must complete the following procedures:
How the Medical-Quality Connection Works
When you create a new Product Quality Complaint with one or more Event Products records on a Case record in your Medical Vault and use the Transfer to Quality action, the connection creates a Complaint Intake and one or more Reported Product records in Quality. The Transfer to Quality action also transfers any attachments from the Event record in Medical to the newly created Complaint Intake record. In Quality, you can perform the Promote to Complaint action or manually move the record to the Intake Assessment Complete state.
MedInquiry queries Quality upon successful creation of Complaint Intake and all child Reported Product records, and when the Complaint Intake record enters the Intake Assessment Complete state, and updates the corresponding Product Quality Complaint record with reconciliation information based on field mapping.
When additional information or a follow-up is received in MedInquiry that relates to a Product Quality Complaint previously transferred to Quality, you can either:
- Reopen the Case and create a new Product Quality Complaint record by copying the existing one, or
- Create a new Case and a new Product Quality Complaint record
The Follow Up? field should be set to Yes and Source Case and Source Event fields populated with the information from the initial Product Quality Complaint record. Once the follow-up Product Quality Complaint is transferred to Quality, Vault automatically determines whether the created Complaint Intake is New or a Follow-Up and sets the Intake Type accordingly, based on the Source Event field from the transferred record. If the Intake Type is Follow-Up, Vault creates a Related Complaint Intake relationship. Vault does not transfer the follow up record if the originating Product Quality Complaint was not previously transferred to Quality.
