# Metadata Extraction for Source Files

Vault extracts metadata from uploaded videos, audio files, and images. This metadata appears in the _File Info_ section within the Doc Info page fields panel.

The _File Info_ section only lists properties that are present in the file metadata. If a file doesn't contain a metadata property, for example, _Image Description_, Vault won't display or populate that field.
